Series: Dervish
The Dervish Lamp is named after the Sufi whirling dervishes based on the resemblance to the form held by the dancer. The light is the combination of a repeating triangle-based element forming the cone, a carved solid-wood stem, and a polycarbonate diffuser. Despite the size of the fixture, it can be disassembled and stored efficiently. Available in various finish colors and veneers.

Series: Cocoon
The Bulb Lamp is a brighter version of its sister lamp (Hive) which plays off the form of the “bulb” both in nature and as the incandescent fixture. Manufactured through the stacking of chamfered plywood layers in addition to a large polycarbonate diffuser, the Bulb Lamp functions best for lighting large areas of the home.

Hive
Series: Cocoon
The Hive Lamp is a multifunctional unit that can be used for ambient or task lighting depending on how it is hung. The inspiration for the design came about partly through experiments in drum fabrication using plywood. In order to create the shell, plywood rings are cut, chamfered, and stacked. Polycarbonate is added as the diffuser; slotting into the bottom layer.

The Oblong is an elongated form in the Onion lamp series that was born out of a desire to reflect light off of wood veneer. Based on the flexibility of certain plywood, an overlapping skin is produced which emits a gradient of light intensity from one side to the other with respect to the viewer. The Oblong Lamp is best suited for spaces with high ceilings as a unique ambient light source. Available in various finish colors and veneers.

Curiosity Chest
Series: Curiosity
The Curiosity Chest references the classic curiosity cabinets of yore, but with an obsessive compulsive update involving 100 uniquely shaped spring-loaded drawers. Exhibited during Milan Design Week 2017, the piece is a limited series item, designed as a celebration of sensuality and fetish. It also carries with it two readings, the first involving a 2-dimensional understanding of the grid, a fluid contortion within a fixed frame. The second reading happens at an intimate distance where one is tempted to run their hand along the surface, feeling the seams between units as well as the unity of the resultant carved surface. A unity which is easily disrupted as one begins opening various compartments, pulling them out of continuity with those next to them.

The technique is surprisingly simple while the result is stunning. The pattern relief is composed of a series of sinusoidal movements of the milling machine at various frequencies and depths.The result is an array of carvings that express a symmetrical or irregular pattern. The Dash features a single engraved drawer face. This piece is a re-interpretation of a classic Damascene single drawer console with a carving method being used to fill the drawer front (or“dash”) instead of the traditional mother-of-pearl inlay. The construction is in solid wood with elegantly slanted mortise and tenon legs that define a dynamic silhouette from any angle. Available in multiple engraving patterns.

Harmonic
Series: Side Table
Harmonic Table take the base of the Amoeba design and overlay a 12-pointed star pattern. Using Walnut and Sadaf for the star the design is based on a mathematical harmonic growth pattern. The star pattern produced is then distorted, causing one side to diminish in size so that the sadaf and walnut elements approach near invisibility. The asymmetry is balanced once the two are placed in an overlapped configuration.

Wave Table
Series: Center Table
Wave Table is a modern interpretation of the traditional craft of in-layed sadaf (mother of pearl). Based on a slab of beech wood and legs made of walnut, the table sits as a feast for the eyes. A unique feature of the fabrication process is that each individual piece is made with an original sadaf in-lay pattern. Therefore each owner of a wave table has a design unique to them and no one else.

Designed for a new addition to the family, Yuma’s crib is made of bent-laminated Beech wood and finished in locally sourced beeswax. The work is inspired by traditional boat hull construction. Rocking can be stopped by lowering locking feet to the ground. Bed level can be placed at upper and lower height.

Amaranthine
Series: Portrait
The Amaranthine mirror is composed of a series of uniquely carved solid wood segments of various wood types. Each segment emerges from the previous by way of a slanted half oval joint creating an unending sequential gradient of color and texture. The mirror is placed in asymmetric juxtaposition with the outer oval shape, creating a dynamic tension between the inner and outer edges of the frame period.

Fatehpur
Series: Carved Shell
The second in a series of pieces named after the location where the designer happened upon the carving motif, the Fatehpur lamp is named for the great Masjid of Fatehpur, India. The pattern is altered to create a distorted gradient of shapes from top to bottom. The piece is carved from solid Beech wood. A first run of three lamps was commissioned for the British ambassador’s residence in Lebanon.

Qanawat

While designing for a client’s home in Qanawat, Old Damascus, we noticed a traditional motif incorporated in the master bedroom.This motif was used as the carving pattern on a new lamp for the client and launched a new series of carved wooden lamps.The Qanawat Globe is the first in the series which are named after the location where each piece’s pattern motif is found. Each lamp goes through numerous stages and techniques to be carved and are either finished in matte white or natural Beech wood exterior, while the inside receives gold leaf treatment.

The Swarm is a large scale indoor chandelier based on the inspiration of the beehive. Three times the size of its sister model, the Hive, the Swarm incorporates 324 randomly sized perforations in the void shell to create a unique ambient light pattern. Light can be switched to emit through the set of perforations, a large polycarbonate diffuser or both.
