Sassine Batroun Res

A new stairwell provided an opportunity to create a play of light and shadow in an existing living room in Batroun, Lebanon. A unique calligraphy design was based on the client's selected text and laser-cut in steel. The design focused on creating a child-safe stair that protected the living space from the natural elements above but also felt light in its presence. The screen was made from 2mm bent sheet steel, stairs and shelving from solid Frakkeh wood. Storage spaces were incorporated below the stairs and through retractable drawers inside first 3 steps.
